Oh, mine?

I'm a cold water enthusiast, recovering photojournalist, wannabe chef, crisis worker, bookworm, trip leader, and people person. I'm a Minnesotan at heart and in New Mexico for now. Getting to know people and their stories is innate for me, and my camera has been an extension of my arm since I was a kid.

I started out studying social work at the University of Montana before some very keen friends saw my photography and connected me with the Montana Kaimin, our school newspaper. I fell in love with telling stories with pictures and turned that experience into a job as a staff photojournalist at MPR News back home in Minneapolis. There I photographed just about everything you could imagine-- from intimate portraits to riots to extreme horse skijoring. With nearly six years of doing this, I sharpened my eye for moments, slices of time that truly capture you, and much more than just a pretty picture.

The thread through all of my work has always been connection. Me connecting with my subjects, and more importantly, my subjects connecting with the people around them. Now I want to turn my lens on you and the people most important to you and send you home with memories you'll look at for a lifetime.

Santa Fe to Minneapolis (and anywhere between)

I'm living in Santa Fe, New Mexico for now, known as Oga Po’geh on the ancestral lands of the Northern and Southern Tewa. I'm available all over the southwest by car, and anywhere else with a plane ticket. Minneapolis, home of the Dakhóta Oyáte, is my favorite city in the world and I'll always come home for a shoot.

Why weddings?

Weddings are distilled connection. If you want to see genuine moments or joy, love, vulnerability, and connection just go to a wedding and open your eyes. It's a feast as a photographer. Why wouldn't I want to spend a whole day in a creative flow state capturing memories that you'll have for a lifetime? Plus everyone looks fantastic.

What else?

Business storytelling, headshots, pets, family shoots and whatever else you might need, I can make it happen. My extensive and diverse experience in photojournalism has prepared me to tackle anything you can throw at me, and knock it out of the park. Check out my editorial work at evanfrost.com

Testimonials

Emily & Tomas

Evan was super easy to work with! His communication was always friendly, responsive, and professional. He blended in seamlessly with our guests throughout the weekend and we felt totally comfortable with him at all the intimate moments (getting dressed with family and friends, our “first look,” family photos, etcetera). We’re especially grateful for of all of Evan’s amazing candid shots. We’re lucky we had him at our wedding!

Nicole & Ryan

We had the pleasure of working with our good friend Evan on both our engagement and wedding photos. We really appreciated the comfort we felt working with Evan on both days, and his eye for capturing the little moments better than we could have imagined. We specifically wanted to work with a photographer with a very creative and unique approach and can confidently say that Evan checks those boxes. He greatly exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend him to anyone!
